About Me

Welcome to A View from the Topp. My blog is dedicated to sharing stories from the life of a farm girl and highlighting the industry I love.

I grew up on my family's diversified crop and beef cattle operation in Grace City, North Dakota. I attended college at North Dakota State University, where I graduated with a degree in Agricultural Communications and a minor in Agribusiness. I also had the incredible honor to serve as a North Dakota state FFA Officer, which taught me numerous lessons and allowed me to meet a lot of great people across the state.

After graduation in 2012, I worked full-time for the Red River Farm Network, where did news reporting, edited a weekly e-newsletter and wrote for two magazines. Working for RRFN was an amazing opportunity, and I am thankful for all the lessons I learned.

I left RRFN in July 2013 to pursue my master's in Agricultural Communications at Kansas State University. I am passionate about learning how to effectively tell agriculture's story to the general public, and I am excited for this incredible opportunity.

In 2010 I began blogging as part of my summer internship with RRFN. Two years, a new look and name change later...A View from the Topp was created. Through my posts I hope to share with you many of the valuable life lessons I learned growing up involved in agriculture and lessons I learn as I navigate my way through this crazy ride we call life. My life is deeply rooted in agriculture, and I am passionate about highlighting this incredible industry.
